“One should always be drunk. That's all that matters...But with what? With wine, with poetry, or with virtue, as you choose. But get drunk.” - Charles Baudelaire

Four months ago I welcomed a new addition to my literary journey, a little baby girl. Since, I replaced endless nights of writing over glasses of reds and whites with the droning sound of milk spewing from my Medela breastpump. Alas! the new drunk is the delirium that it causes my daughter to remain forever milk drunk.

She has breathed new life into my fictional character, Greta and chapters of my literary project, The Cowardly Lion. Years ago, I wrote about the state of pause to reinvent oneself through reflection. During my pregnancy, I feared my creative juices from those reds and whites would wane. Instead, motherhood reinvented me. I still write in the shadows of the night, but muffle coughs so as not to awaken her.

The Cowardly Lion and other works continue with milkdrunk, an e-zine project narrating my literary journey in motherhood.
